Target group(s)
All citizens, stakeholders and organisations involved in environmental impact assessments (of plans, programmes or projects) are invited to respond to the public consultation. The Commission is equally interested in getting the views of National Parliaments, Public Administrations (at national, regional and local level), the European Parliament and the Council, the Social and Economic Committee and the Committee of the Regions, as well as other institutions such as the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Objective of the consultation
The objective of this public consultation is to collect opinions on:
- the overall view on the functioning and effectiveness of the EIA Directive,
- the need to amend the EIA Directive,
- the possible policy options for review,
- the areas to be improved / amended.

The internet consultation will assist the European Commission in the decision-making process, together with other sources (e.g. experience of the Commission, advice of a group of national experts and findings of relevant studies to be conducted) when considering options for the review of the EIA Directive.

It should not take more than 30 minutes to fill in the questionnaire. The maximum time to complete the questionnaire allowed by the system is 90 minutes. Partial responses will not be saved. This means once you start filling in the questionnaire, you have to answer all compulsory questions to submit your response.
